Come the Revolution

Kerala has its own style of politics.

The Communist Party and Congress Party tend to alternate in power.

Trades Unions are vocal. Daily life is punctuated by strikes, hartals and bandhs.

Some political parties enjoy strong support

Others have had their day

Or long since lost their appeal

But as a child, my revolutionary inspiration was this:

    hi dad,

    zoe was playing the revolutionary when we in norfolk a few weeks ago and i was telling her how it reminded me of sparky and trying to explain to her who he was.

    Sparky was terrifying. And in the clips underneath, reminders of other horrors, Torchy the Battery Boy, Twizzle and Sarah and Hoppity. But the worst of all was Rubovia.

    • We didn’t have a television for much of my childhood so Rubovia is a new one to me.

      When working, I went through a phase of playing Sparky and the Revolutionary Etude as patients were waking from anaesthesia. I now wonder if psychological damage was inflicted..
