"Wading neck deep in a swamp, your revolver is neither use nor ornament until you have had time to clean it" Mary H. Kingsley (1897)

Journey’s End

Then, almost suddenly, our amazing tour of Ladakh was over.
It was time to say thank you and goodbye:
to Norvo, our supremely unflappable driver;
the kind staff at our “base-camp” hotel in Leh;
and to our excellent peripatetic cook.

It was also time to rest.

    Gosh, what a marathon that trip was it left me gasping for air on occasion. Delhi looks a lot warmer.

    • It was an amazing trip. There were times when I wondered quite what I had taken on, especially when the car was skidding on the snow of the high Himalayan passes with sheer drops beside us, or spending the night in a sleeping-bag 13,000 feet above sea-level. What was I thinking of?!

      But it was an experience I will never forget and I’ll always be grateful for having had the opportunity to take it..
