Journey’s End
Then, almost suddenly, our amazing tour of Ladakh was over.
It was time to say thank you and goodbye:
to Norvo, our supremely unflappable driver;
the kind staff at our “base-camp” hotel in Leh;
and to our excellent peripatetic cook.
It was also time to rest.

Gosh, what a marathon that trip was it left me gasping for air on occasion. Delhi looks a lot warmer.

It was an amazing trip. There were times when I wondered quite what I had taken on, especially when the car was skidding on the snow of the high Himalayan passes with sheer drops beside us, or spending the night in a sleeping-bag 13,000 feet above sea-level. What was I thinking of?!
But it was an experience I will never forget and I’ll always be grateful for having had the opportunity to take it..
