Neither Use Nor Ornament"Wading neck deep in a swamp, your revolver is neither use nor ornament until you have had time to clean it" Mary H. Kingsley (1897)
I know that the monastery is on the North Island, but with the palm trees, I’m wondering how tropical it is there at the Kapua monastery. Do they have seasons (like a real winter)?
Although those distinctive tree silhouettes look like palms they are, I believe, a native New Zealand species, quite unlike anything I have seen in the tropics.
The winters – even on North Island – can be very cold, and snow is far from rare!

You do rise early, don’t you? Beautiful image.

Yes, but I also retire to my bed ridiculously early!
Very pleased you liked the snapshot…

Those NZ skies have a unique quality about them. Beautiful images all.

Yes, I find their skies amazing too… which is odd. Normally I’m only so aware of the sky when the scenery is particularly flat, or mountainous!
